Summer School / Camp

For 5 weeks in July and August, our school offers summer classes free of charge to local children, both CBS students and children from the wider community.  Our summer camp involves a mixture of formal classes, sports, arts and crafts, and other fun activities.  Children come to Summer School from all grade levels although the majority are younger (ages four to seven) as their parents look to give them a head start on the coming academic year.

Volunteers have a huge amount of freedom to decide what activities they want to do in Summer School as there is no set timetable.  If you are creative and have lots of ideas and energy, then you will be perfect for this opportunity.

Summer School runs only in the morning from 8 a.m  to11 a.m.  Volunteers can arrange to spend their afternoons giving private classes in the houses of different families, which is a great way to make friends and get to know local people.

The cost of our Summer School program is $250, which pays for your accommodation in one of our shared volunteer houses.   A small meal is also provided on school days, and we will arrange your collection and drop off at the airport or bus terminal.  You will need to organize your flights to and from San Pedro Sula, and be able to cover your living expenses while you are in Cofradia (approximately $25 per week) and any traveling you wish to do on weekends.
